Bespoke Design Service......

Services

The services include; ready-made, semi bespoke and fully bespoke designs. The ready-made designs, featured on this website, are collections of innovative new designs that can be applied to a variety of weights and fibers: you choose the type of cloth. For the semi-bespoke service the design can be coloured to your requirements: you choose design, cloth and colour. With the fully bespoke service you can let your creative mind run wild, the designs are initiated by the you; it can be from a sketch, an archive design or taken from a photograph. Whatever you can imagine, we can work with for truly exclusive design.

Bespoke Colour and Scale

All the designs can be re-coloured to your specific requirements, you can send colours for matching in a variety of formats; paint chips, fabric or pantone numbers. There is no extra charge for bespoke colouring if you are ordering more than 11m of fabric, otherwise there is a small surcharge to completely re-colour the design and provide a fabric proof to insure colour matching. With a panel design, a scaled down version will be printed to show all the colours. Further amendments can be made at the proofing stage but not after order confirmation. If an order were cancelled after proofs were submitted there would be a cancellation fee. There is no charge at all for scale changes in a design or length adjustment with panels.

The Technology......

Digital Printing

The flexible approach to textile design is made possible by the use of Digital Printing. This is combined with other techniques, modern and traditional; laser cutting, digital embroidery and flocking. Digital Printing technology has made huge advances since it’s launch; poor colour and pixelated images are a thing of the past. Colours are flexible they can be rich hues, subtle shades and anything in between. The media that can be printed now gives incredible scope for designers: everything from velvet to voile, leather to linen, with a finish that surpasses traditional methods because of the range of colours that can be achieved.

Green Issues

The environment is a strong concern to everyone at present and digital printing is one of the most environmentally friendly printing techniques. The digital process wastes very little cloth and dyestuffs, so metres of fabric are not thrown away and litres of chemicals do not have to be disposed of.
Colure Design is an environmentally aware company and will endeavour to use practices that are as green as possible. For example: our catalogue is available in a paperless PDF format.

The Designer......

Jennie Blake - Textile Designer

Jennie has a rather unconventional education, leaving school half way through A-levels and going to work for a textile company called Ian Sanderson. The variety of jobs she did whilst at Ian Sanderson enabled her to discover what she really wanted to do – design textiles. After fours year she decided to go to university and get a degree in textile design. She had to start where she left off, an AS level in Art with Textiles and then progressed to an Access Course, all the time building a portfolio of work. Jennie applied to Winchester School of Art a year early and was given an unconditional place on the Textile Design course. Over the three-year course she developed her design skills specialising in printed textiles and particularly computer-aided design. She graduated with a 2:1. The knowledge and experience gained in industry combined with the skills to create textiles, means Jennie has both the business and design skills to build her own company and help to bring textile design for interiors into the 21st Century.
